MAJOR BLAZE FOUGHT BY FIRE CREWS AT BOTESDALE

Crews from nine local fire stations in Norfolk and Suffolk have been called out to a severe blaze at Botesdale.

The fire swept through a large metal-framed chicken shed in Finningham Road yesterday afternoon.  No animals were inside the building at the time as it was engulfed by flames, before the roof collapsed.

Firefighters stayed on the scene for several hours to allow the fire to burn out and then later to dampen down.

HOMES GO WITHOUT POWER AFTER LINE FAULT

About 420 homes, mainly in South Norfolk, have been without electricity earlier today. Power was cut to the homes in the East Harling, Garboldisham and Botesdale area for several hours from early this morning.

The problem was caused by a fault in an overhead high-voltage power-line at North Lopham.

THOUSANDS OF HOMES STILL WAITING TO BE BUILT IN MID SUFFOLK

It’s been revealed that there are more than 70 building sites in Mid Suffolk where work
has stopped or never started.

The figures show that over 6,200 new homes, with planning permission, have not yet been built on the 77 ‘stalled’ sites in the district.

Mid Suffolk  council is  looking to bring in a housing delivery action plan to push builders into moving on with developments and also to prevent future projects being held up.

LOCAL BOOTS SHOULD STAY OPEN DESPITE CLOSURE PLAN
It seems that there are no plans to close the Boots chemist shops in Diss and Harleston at present.

The national chain has announced that it will shut around 200 stores around the country over the next 18 months, but does not ‘envisage’ any local closure.

CITY STRIKER SIGNS ON FOR ANOTHER THREE YEARS

Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki has signed a new three-year deal with the club.  He joined the Canaries on a free transfer from Danish Club Brondby last summer and ended last season as the Championship’s top scorer.
