MOVES TO TACKLE ROAD CONGESTION
A new transport strategy to improve traffic congestion in Diss has just been unveiled.
The plan has been drawn up by Norfolk county council officers after two years of work, including traffic surveys at the main trouble-spots. More than 20 different schemes have been shortlisted to help ease bottlenecks and provide improvements to cope with future growth in the town.
The Morrison’s roundabout has been singled out as the main focus for improvements on the A1066 main road through the town centre, but this is seen as a medium-term option over the next 10 years.
The county council says it has funds available for short-term projects in the next two years, including widening Frenze Hall Lane, extending the cycleway to the Methodist Church, and a new crossing on Vince’s Road.
HOPES FOR NEW SPEED WATCH GROUP
A move is underway to start a speed-watch group in Harleston.
Members of the Action for Harleston group are looking for volunteers to help form a team to monitor speeding vehicles in the town. There’s concern about a number of areas where speeding is a likely problem.
TANGERINES HUNT FOR TEAM BOSS
Diss Town say that they’re hoping to appoint a new manager “as quickly as possible”.
The club is looking for a new team boss, after the resignation of Jon Abbott last weekend.
