NEW LIBRARY FOR EYE
New public library is set to go ahead for Eye.
Plans have now been approved for a new modern library building in the centre of the town.
Work will take place to renovate a vacant building in Cross Street which was formerly council offices and a workshop.
The new site for the library will be close to its current home in Buckshorn Lane where it’s been for nearly 40 years.
Eye town council has welcomed the move to the new library, but says it is disappointed by what it sees as the unimaginative and unattractive look of the 1960s building.
POLICE TARGET ANTI-SOCIAL DRIVING
Police in Diss have been cracking down on anti-social driving in the town.
Officers have stopped two motorbikes in the Manor Road area for driving in a careless manner.
One rider had his bike seized for having no insurance and the other was served with a notice allowing police to seize his bike for inconsiderate driving.
BUSINESS BOOMING AT DISS FIRM
A Diss firm may look to expand its head office in the town with business currently booming.
Midwich said to be one of the fastest growing companies in this region has reported a rise in turnover of 27.5 percent last year to over £470 million.
The increase is put down to growth and recent acquisitions and the company expects the trend to continue.
Over 260 people now work for Midwich at its Vince’s Road base in Diss with the company now looking to expand into new overseas markets.
A pothole in a village’s main road is causing concern because Suffolk county council is refusing to fill it in.
Villagers in Thelnetham say the hole in High Street has been left in disrepair for around 18 months.
They say that the dangerous pothole has caused several accidents and they expect someone to be seriously hurt in due course.
It’s understood the county council has been out to check the pothole but no action has been taken yet.
