CRACKDOWN AT ACCIDENT JUNCTION
Police in Diss have started a crackdown on drivers at a town centre road junction.
The move follows recent accidents involving pedestrians at the junction of Mere Street and Chapel Street.
Several motorists have been issued with enforcement notices for failing to follow traffic signs there.
MP’S CALL ON BUSINESS RATES
A Suffolk MP has called for a major overhaul of business rates, in the wake of recent financial problems for High Street shops. .
Waveney MP Peter Aldous says the current system needs a ‘root and branch’ review, with the Beales store in Diss facing closure as the national chain looks for a buyer to avoid administration.
Mr Aldous says business rates are currently ‘crippling’.
POTTERY CLOSES AFTER FIFTY YEARS
A pottery business in Harleston is to close, after 50 years of selling to customers and collectors all over the world.
The final production of pottery will come off the line next month at the Millhouse Pottery in Station Road. The pottery’s shop is still open to visitors.
