DRIVERS CAUGHT IN CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN
More than 700 people were tested in Norfolk during the Christmas drink-and-drug driving campaign, with 214 drivers failing.
The month-long campaign saw additional patrols and roadside checks carried out. Over 670 drivers were stopped in Suffolk…with 170 being arrested.
MORE TRAIN USE AT DISS
Diss was the third busiest railway station in Norfolk in 2018-19.
Over 700 thousand passengers used the station, an increase of around 10,500 on the previous year.
Greater Anglia say that the number of train users across the county rose during the 12 months to nearly 10 million.
VILLAGE PUB TO CLOSE
A pub and restaurant in New Buckenham is closing its doors later this year.
The owners of the Inn on the Green say the business will close in March due to a fall in trade, with fewer people now eating out.
BOTTOM TWO CLASH
There’s a battle of the bottom two in the Premiership tomorrow, when Norwich meet Bournemouth at Carrow Road. Striker Teemu Pukki should return from injury.
Ipswich Town are at struggling Tranmere with their League One game now set to go ahead, despite concerns about the state of the pitch.
Diss Town, now in seventh spot in the Thurlow Nunn first division north table, are away at Fakenham, just two places below them.
In the Anglian Combination premier division, Harleston Town will need a win to maintain their title hopes. They’re at home to next-to-bottom Blofield. Scole United are also at home, as they take on the bottom side, St Andrews, who are yet to win a point this season.
It’s a blank weekend for Diss rugby club first team with their game at Saffron Walden called off because of a waterlogged pitch. Saracens are at home to Watton, with the kickoff at 2pm.
