CLOSURE LOOKS NEAR FOR TOWN CENTRE STORE

The Beales department store in Diss now looks set to shut down.

A decision has now been made to prepare for the closure of all of the company’s 23 stores, also including the store in Beccles.  Administrators have so far failed to find a buyer for the Beales group, although it’s said that talks are still continuing with several interested parties.

TEEN IN COURT FOR UNI CLIMATE PROTEST

A Harleston teenager is one of a group of climate activists to appear in court on criminal damage charges.

19 year-old Caitlin Fay, of Tudor Rose Way, has been released on bail to return to court in Cambridge on March 30th.  Their arrests followed an incident in the city yesterday when a lawn outside a university college was dug up, during an Extinction Rebellion protest.

INQUIRY FOLLOWS CARE HOME DEATH

An investigation is underway into the death of a 95 year-old woman at a care home in Halesworth.

The woman is said to have been attacked with a walking stick by another resident, only a few days after arriving at the Beech House care home  She died in hospital a week after receiving the injuries, prompting inquiries by police and the care home’s management. The Care Quality Commission has also been informed.

WOMAN APPEALS OVER DOG NOISE

A South Norfolk woman is appealing against a court conviction for failing to control noise nuisance from her dog kennels.

Sharon Tidnam has told the court hearing that the case last year has had a ‘terrible impact’ on her, along with a legal bill of over £90,000.  It followed complaints from a neighbour about barking from the kennels at Low Farm in Topcroft.
