ACCIDENT CLOSES BUSY MAIN ROAD FOR HOURS
A serious accident has closed the A140 main road near Long Stratton for around four hours.
The accident, involving a pedestrian and a car, happened late this morning at the junction of the main road with Hill Farm Road, at the entrance to Churchfields. The road was closed as emergency services and the air ambulance attended.
A man has since been taken to hospital with serious arm and leg injuries. Diversions were set up after the incident on the outskirts of the town, causing long delays.
COUNCIL DECIDES AGAINST CHANGE ON CARE COSTS
Campaigners have failed to force a re-think on plans to reduce spending on care for disabled people in Norfolk.
Councillors say that the cuts in care will go ahead, after a meeting with the campaigners to discuss the issue. Norfolk county council has cut £4 million from its adult social care budget, meaning that disabled people will receive less financial assistance in future.
DISS VLOGGER’S TEARFUL FINAL VIDEO
A Diss woman, known for running a popular beauty vlog on You Tube, has revealed that she has only a few weeks left to live.
A mother of four, Samantha Last has made the announcement in a tearful final video, after five years of posting make-up tips for older women. 49 year old Samantha has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.
She started the vlog after being made redundant in 2014 and has since built up 15,000 followers..
HOSPITAL CLOSURE MEANS ANOTHER HIT FOR MENTAL HEALTH LOCALLY
Mental health provision in Norfolk has taken another blow with the closure of a hospital unit for children.
The two children’s wards at the private Ellingham hospital near Attleborough will close, as soon as the NHS finds new placements for patients.
The closure follows concerns raised by the Care Quality Commission over the lack of staff, due to problems over retaining and recruiting workers.
