HOPES HIGH FOR THIS YEAR’S NORFOLK SHOW

Organisers of the Royal Norfolk Show are expecting a bumper attendance at this year’s event…with the fine weather continuing for the two days.

They’re hopeful that the crowd figures will easily pass the 80,000 mark……after the rain that dampened the show
in the previous two years.

The event is regarded as the biggest agricultural show in the country…with 3,000 animals appearing at the showground this year.

Action in the main ring will continue late into the evening for the first time to attract more people after work.

FEWER FATAL ACCIDENTS ON SUFFOLK ROADS

There’s been a fall of nearly 20 per cent in the number of fatal and serious-injury road collisions in Suffolk over the past year, despite increasing traffic levels.

The number of speeding offences in the county also fell – by around 30 per cent – and there were fewer seat-belt and mobile phone offences by drivers.

One increase, though, was in the amount of drug-driving, which increased by 27 per cent…but drink driving fell slightly.

TRANSPORT CUTS FOR REVIEW SOON

Plans to cut free school transport in Suffolk will come up for review on Monday week.

The county’s Scrutiny committee will look at how the decision to bring in the cost-saving measures was reached.

The committee will meet on July 9th after opposition councillors came together to question the decision by the council’s ruling Conservative group.

FIREMEN TACKLE SHELFANGER BLAZE

The fire broke out yesterday afternoon in Winfarthing Road…and at one time, it was feared the flames would spread to a thatched house nearby. No one was hurt.
