VIEWS SOUGHT ON NEW BUILD HOMES

A public consultation is underway into plans for new homes to be built around South Norfolk in the next 20 years.

People are being urged to give their views on the draft version of the Greater Norwich Local Plan, detailing growth in the city and the Broadland and South Norfolk council areas.

The blueprint includes a total of 6,250 new homes in Diss, Harleston and Long Stratton, with another 2,500 planned in village clusters around South Norfolk.  Local meetings are due to take place as part of the consultation, which runs until mid-March.

CALL FOR VILLAGE STATION TO RE-OPEN

A county councillor is calling on the former railway station in the village of Forncett to be re-opened.

Councillor Bev Spratt says the station should be re-instated, as part of plans to improve the county’s railway network.  The station was closed over 50 years ago, but he says it could be a valuable service for the increasing local population.

NEW SCAM CALLS WARNING

A warning’s been issued after another spate of scam phone calls in Norfolk.

The cold calls claim to be from BT in a bid to trick people into giving bank details.  Other callers say they’re from Amazon Prime.

FOODBANK OPENS NEW CENTRE

Waveney Foodbank is to open a second warehouse after a big increase in demand.

The number of users for food is rising quickly and the foodbank’s second warehouse in Ilketshall St Andrew will enable the group to keep up with demand.
