WORK MAY FINALLY START SOON AT PUB SITE
Initial groundworks are now finally set to get underway shortly on the site of a planned new Wetherspoons pub and restaurant in Diss.
A licence to sell alcohol at the pub is due to be granted by South Norfolk council tomorrow, after no objection was received. It’s understood that final design details of the building, on land next to the Mere, have still to be approved.
TREE BRINGS PROBLEMS ON THE TRACKS
Rail services between Diss and London have been disrupted for most of the day, after a falling tree brought down power lines.
The line has been blocked between Ipswich and Colchester, with a replacement bus service ferrying passengers.
FREEMAN OUT IN RE-SHUFFLE
Mid Norfolk MP, George Freeman has lost his job in government.
He’s been removed from his post as transport minister, as part of the Prime Minister’s reshuffle.
THOUSANDS OF EU CITIZENS GET PERMITS
Nearly 30,000 EU citizens in Norfolk and Waveney have so far been granted permission to stay in the country.
The latest Home Office figures show that 1,800 of the permits have been given to applicants living in South Norfolk.
TETTEY ADDS ANOTHER YEAR
Norwich City’s longest-serving player, Alex Tettey has agreed to extend his contract at Carrow Road. He’s signed a one-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2021.
