CYCLATHON IS CALLED OFF
The Diss Cyclathon will now not be taking place this year.
The nationally-recognised cycle event around the Diss area was due to be held again in the summer, but has now had to be cancelled. The decision comes after plans fell through for new organisers to take over the event from this year.
The cyclathon has raised around £40,000 for local charities in the last four years.
COUNCIL GOES FOR TAX INCREASE
Another large increase has been agreed by Norfolk county council in its share of council tax for the coming year.
The council has approved a four per cent increase, which will add an average £50 to the annual amount, from April.
The council’s controlling Tory group has also clashed with opposition parties, as a move was voted through to increase councillors’ annual allowance by two percent.
DELAY WARNING ON MAIN ROAD
There’s a warning of delays for drivers next week, using the A140 between Diss and Norwich.
Anglian Water will be carrying out work on the busy main road between Star Lane and Hill Farm Lane at Long Stratton early next week. Temporary traffic lights will be operating, on either next Monday or Tuesday.
