CONTROVERSY BREAKS OUT AT COUNCIL OVER POWER SHARING
There’s controversy over the make-up of Mid Suffolk council, with councillors split into two equal groups.

But new council chairman, Lavinia Hardingham, a Tory, is using a casting vote to break any deadlock, including over yesterday’s election of the council’s leader. The Greens and Liberals say they’re disappointed that there’s been no attempt at sharing power, despite the Conservatives not having a majority.

Mr Howsen, of Chapel Close, had a long history of mental illness and had told his daughter in a phone call that “he’d had enough”, after he’d decided to stop his medicine.
