COUNCIL TO DISCUSS STREET LIGHT SHUT OFF, DISS TOILET BLOCK
Diss councillors are due tonight to discuss plans to reduce the number of street lights in the town.
A special group set up by the council to look into the lighting situation will report to the council’s full meeting.
South Norfolk council has suggested a reduction in street lamps but there are concerns about possible security issues.
The meeting will also hear about options for the way forward regarding the Mere’s Mouth public toilet block, which is threatened with closure because of the state of the old building.
EDUCATION GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR AREA YOUNG PEOPLE
Young people in Diss have a chance to apply for grants to help fund their education.
Applications for financial help from the Taylor & Hammond Education Fund are now open to people aged under 25 who have attended school in Diss.
The fund can provide support for further or higher education, an apprenticeship or to continue learning in some other way.
Closing date for applications is March 30th. More details can be found on the Diss town council website.
LOCAL PRODUCTS TO FEATURE AT ‘NORFOLK ON SHOW’
Local businesses are being offered the chance to showcase their products to thousands of people at this year’s South Norfolk on Show.
South Norfolk Council is expecting another excellent turnout for its 9th annual event on July 1st following an attendance of 6,000 last year.
The council’s deputy leader Michael Edney says this is a real opportunity for the area’s many producers, small shops and craftsmen and women to promote their businesses and meet new customers.
A limited number of spaces are still available.
As well as many stalls, there’ll be an array of free entertainment and family attractions.
AREA COFFEE SHOP TO RE-OPEN
A Kenninghall coffee shop is re-opening at the weekend….with a name change.
The village’s Coffee House in Market Street has been closed for a make over and has now become Kenninghall Bistro.
There’s a range of special offers on opening day, this Saturday.
