OVER 100 ARRESTED IN CHRISTMAS DRINK AND DRUG CAMPAIGN
More than 100 motorists have been arrested in Norfolk so far during the county’s latest drink and drug drive campaign.
Norfolk police launched the campaign at the start of the month with extra patrols and roadside checks, until the New Year. At the halfway point, 103 arrests had been made for drink and drug driving…..with 45 drug wipes showing positive.
CONSULTATION DUE ON CHILDREN’S CENTRE CLOSURES PLAN
The next consultation on the closure of children’s centres in Norfolk will take place in a month.
It will report on feedback from local people about the planned closure of most of the 53 centres, including Diss and Harleston. It will also consider the likely impact of the county council’s proposal.
POLICE SEARCH FOR MISSING TEEN
Suffolk police are looking for a teenage girl who’s gone missing from home and may be in the Diss area.
13 year old Beatrice Sandhu was last seen at her home near Lowestoft last Friday evening. Police have appealed for help and believe she may have travelled to Ipswich or Diss, where she is said to have connections.
She’s described as white, five feet tall, slight build, with very long black hair and tanned complexion.
NO WHITE CHRISTMAS AGAIN – IN THE WAVENEY VALLEY
Weather forecasters say there’ll be no white Christmas this year again locally…for the ninth year running.
However, temperatures are expected to fall close to freezing tonight…and it’ll be misty overnight and early morning.
NEW MANAGER IN THE NEW YEAR
Diss Town say that a new team manager is not expected to be appointed until early in the New Year. A short-list is currently being drawn up.
Both Diss and Harleston had no match at the weekend. Diss had their game at Kings Lynn cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch. Harleston play their top-of the table clash at second-placed Mulbarton on Boxing Day. Kick off is 11am.
